UKKCA Convention in Kent on July 19; Kerala minister, Innocent to attend |

KENT -- United Kingdom Knanaya Catholic Association (UKKCA), the event-maker and the largest community from a single Catholic diocese in UK, will celebrate its 7th annual convention at Mar Mathew Makkil Convention Centre, New Brompton College, Marlborough Road, Gillingham, Kent, ME7 5HT on Saturday 19th July 2008.
The event will kick off at 10:30am with Holy
Mass and First Holy communion, traditional Knanaya procession, General Body Meeting, Inauguration of UK - KCYL and Cultural and Musical Programmes
Arch Bishop Mar Mathew Moolakkatt will inaugurate the event and Hon. Justice Cyriac Joseph will inaugurate UK-KCYL. The chief guest will be PWD Minister Adv. Monce Joseph
Thomas Chazhikadan (MLA) will releasing the new UKKCA Logo.
Local Dignitaries will include Paul Clark (MP - Gillingham and Rainham, Parliamentary Private Secretary to Secretary of State for Children, School and Families), Balagopal (Secretary - Medway Ethnic Minority Forum; Medway Council), S Sreekumar (Director - Asianet Europe). Other Guests will include James Thekkanattu (Joint Secretary - Knanaya Catholic Congress)
Inauguration of the Kala Sandhya will be by noted film directors Innocent & Lakshmi Rai (Film Stars). The Fusion Musical Performance later in the evening will be by C S Balabhaskar (Musician, Instrumentalist, Music Director).
Those who are interested to perform in the cultural programmes on the 7th UKKCA Annual Convention on 19th of July, should contact their regional or unit representatives at the earliest, said a press note.

The UKKCA has SIX Regions and 19 Units across the UK and many unorganised small Knanaya Communities scattered remote areas of UK.
This very unique group of Catholics are meet together under one umbrella every year. This community have precious values and traditions, its history starts from AD 345.
The organizers expect a huge crowd more than that of previous years, they also added that this type of gathering will have an extra leverage to maintain love and unity among the community.
It is also worth mentioning that around 2,000 people gathered last year including women and children. To mark this great occasion, a group of distinguished guests are expected to attend, led by the Archbishop of the Knanaya community.
The whole day programme begins with Holy Mass, traditional & ceremonial procession, general body meeting and thereafter, cultural and musical extravaganza.
